About MSA

Our approach working with our clients has changed immensely in our industry over the past 40 years. Our clients continue to choose MSA to meet their engineering needs. It’s about the sustaining relationship we build and the five- star customer service we provide.

History

MSA Engineering

MSA Engineering Consultants began its roots in 1978 as Marc Simoncini Associates (MSA) in a 750 SF one-room office above a bowling alley in Sparks, Nevada. Bricks supporting hollow core doors were used as drafting tables attached with parallel roller bars. An IBM Selectric II typewriter, liquid paper, and an AM/FM radio with an 8-track tape player were our tools of the trade.

MSA Engineering

MSA grows to five employees in 1982. Curly paper fax machines were used, as computers were still the technology of the future. Cassette tapes were in, but we held on to our 8 tracks listing to our collection of Crystal Gayle and Willie Nelsen. In 1987 MSA grows to eight electrical employees with our first AutoCAD drafter and the company’s first computer, 33 MHz processors with 250 MG’s of memory in a spacious 3,000 SF building in the “Biggest Little City in the World.”

MSA Engineering

1996 MSA lands our first mega-resort project with the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. We start our electrical engineering design on the Venetian Resort and Casino. MSA continues to have a strong relationship with Las Vegas Sands to this day. In late 1996, David Melroy purchases MSA, and in 1997 the Las Vegas office is established.

MSA Engineering

MSA moves into a 10,000 SF office. Low voltage design services were added to our mechanical, plumbing, and electrical services. Las Vegas and the gaming market were robust, several hundred million-dollar projects became multi-billion projects! MSA’s work load and clients grew immensely!

MSA Engineering

MSA purchases a new office building in Reno and introduces mechanical engineering and information technology systems in addition to the electrical engineering services.

MSA Engineering

MSA designs and constructs a new 24,000 SF corporate headquarter complex in Las Vegas to accommodate our growth. We are licensed in 40 states and extend our services to our gaming clients internationally.

MSA Engineering

MSA purchases a mechanical, plumbing, and electrical firm in Phoenix. Information technology systems and architectural lighting design services are implemented into the new office.

MSA Engineering

MSA celebrates 40th anniversary. A strategic operations team is unified to build a stronger workforce and strengthen our strategies with “What’s Important now” (WIN) initiatives to lead MSA in design excellence and embarks on a company rebrand.

Events

MSA values public service and philanthropic giving. We are proud of the foundations and charities we support locally and globally. Our employees are leaders who are active in their communities, and as an organization, our charitable projects are selected by each local office to best support the communities where we work and live. Often, it’s the passion of one of our team members who introduces a prospective charity.

We believe in commitments and doing the right things. We don’t just say so, we demonstrate our values thorough our actions. At MSA we have a saying “Lead by example and exceed expectations – do something extraordinary every day!”

4th of July Office Party

Our Las Vegas Team celebrated the 4th of July in style this year. Lots of treats were eaten and laughs were shared. There is no better way to celebrate America's Birthday than with hot dogs, hamburgers and sunshine!

ASHRAE Guatemala Outreach Trip

"Giving people that have nothing, something, is everything. The reaction of those we helped, is a memory I will be carrying with me for the rest of my life. They wanted to thank us so much, kept giving us fruit even though fruit was all they had. People with nothing, giving us everything, now that is something." -Kevin Gutman

Raiders Practice Facility Ground Breaking Ceremony

On January 14, 2019 a few MSA team members had the honor of breaking the ground where the Raiders Practice facility will reside. The excitement of this event can be seen on Dave Melroy's face as he grins from ear to ear standing next to the president of the Raiders, Marc Badain.
